A pair of trousers that fits perfectly. That is not easy. Sometimes they pull under your buttocks or the waist is open. Too tight on the hips and much too wide at the waist, or the other way around. Or that one trouser leg that always seems shorter than the other, because there is a misalignment in your hips.
A well-fitting pair of trousers, whether elasticated or with a closure, always requires a test model. There are so many fitting errors in trousers, we are going to remove them.
And once you have a good basic pattern, you can use it again and again for other trousers.
Our course "trousers adjusted to your size" is designed for this purpose.
This course is given on 4 Saturdays, from 9:30 to 12:30. You will have some homework between the course days.
- We start by taking your measurements correctly and adjust the pattern on paper where necessary.
- The trousers are then sewn in a test fabric. The fabric for the test model is included in the price.
- When the fitting model is ready, we analyze the fitting errors. Using a number of illustrations, you try to see for yourself where the problem lies. We discuss this together and you make the necessary adjustments to your test model.
- When your sample is ready, transfer the adjustments to your pattern.
- The fabric for the final trousers , you cut at home. If, after the adjustments to your pattern, you want to make a second test model at home, then that is of course possible.
- Interesting to remember: it is quite possible that you need 2 or more samples to make your pants fit perfectly. It depends on your shapes, on the fabric you will eventually use, on the complexity of the pattern that is used.
- At home you will also reinforce what is needed and possibly do some preparatory sewing. (overlocking, ...)
- Then we sew the trousers and you will receive all the tips and tricks to put together trousers according to the rules of the art.
- Because we have made a (nearly) perfect fitting test model, we no longer have to worry about the fit and can fully focus on the techniques.
- Once your pants are completely finished, some final adjustments will likely be made and you will be given tips to perfect the next version.
The pants:
- Beautifully finished side pockets, attached at the centre front for a neat result.
- Fly closure.
- Trousers with classic cut for non- or slightly stretchable fabrics. Suitable fabrics are: gabardine, trouser fabric, soft fabrics, stretch cotton, jeans, corduroy, wool.
What do you get, besides the fun and educational workshop days?
- A comprehensive overview of possible fitting errors and solutions.
- Sketch blank pants to record your findings.
- Understanding a trouser pattern and how to apply the adjustments to any other trouser pattern.
- Video support through our online Academy.
- A (nearly) perfect fitting pair of trousers with a fly closure.
Also interesting to know: suppose the pants are not completely finished and you need extra guidance to finish them, then you can come and finish them once for free during our open sewing workshops. If you need multiple guidance moments, then you can register as often (paid) as you want.
