Trousers that fit perfectly. That's not easy. Sometimes it pulls under your buttocks or the waist is open. Too tight at the hips and way too loose at the waist, or vice versa. Or that one trouser leg that always seems shorter than the other, because there is a crooked position in your hips.
Well-fitting trousers, whether elastic or with closure, always require a sample model. There are so many fitting errors in pants, we are going to eliminate them.
And once you have a good basic pattern, you can use it again and again for other pants.
Our course "pants adjusted to your size" is designed for this.
This course is given on 5 Saturdays, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. You will have some homework between the course days.
- We start by taking your measurements correctly and adjust the pattern on paper where necessary.
- The pants are then sewn in a test fabric. The fabric for the sample is included in the price.
- When the fitting model is ready, we analyze the fitting errors. Using a number of illustrations, try to see for yourself where the problem is. We discuss this together and you make the necessary adjustments to your test model.
- When your test model is ready, transfer the adjustments to your pattern.
- You cut the fabric for the final pants at home. If you want to quickly make a second test model at home after making adjustments to your pattern, you can of course do so.
- Interesting to remember: it is quite possible that you will need 2 or more samples to get your pants to fit perfectly. It depends on your shapes, on the fabric you will ultimately use, on the complexity of the pattern used.
- At home you will also reinforce what is needed and possibly do some preparatory sewing. (overlocking, ...)
- We then sew the trousers and you will receive all the tips and tricks to assemble trousers according to the rules of the art.
- Because we have made an (almost) perfectly fitting test model, we now no longer have to worry about the fit and we can fully focus on the techniques.
- Once your pants are completely finished, some final adjustments will probably be made and you will be given tips to perfect the next version.
The pants:
- Beautifully finished side pockets, secured at the center front for a sleek result.
- Fly closure.
- Trousers with classic cut for non- or slightly stretchy fabrics. Suitable fabrics are: gabardine, trouser fabric, flexible fabrics, stretch cotton, jeans, corduroy, wool.
What do you get, in addition to the fun, educational workshop days?
- A comprehensive overview of possible fitting errors and solutions.
- Make blank sketches to record your findings.
- Understanding the pattern of pants and how to apply the adjustments to any other pants pattern.
- Video support via our online Academy.
- A pair of (almost) perfectly fitting trousers with a fly closure.
Another interesting thing to know: if the pants are not completely ready and you need extra guidance to finish them, you can come and finish them once for free during our open sewing workshops. If you need multiple sessions of guidance, you can register as often (paying) as you wish.
