  • The Making backpack is a pattern for a backpack in Scandinavian style, tough and handy, ready for any adventure. Absolutely 'manproof' ;).

    The spacious backpack closes with a zipper to keep your belongings safe and has a slip or zipper pocket at the front. There is also a zipper pocket inside.

    Dimensions of the finished bag:

    • 29 cm wide, 38 cm high and 12 cm deep (large).
    • 20 cm wide, 27 cm high, 11.5 cm deep (mini)

    Recommended fabrics

    • Waxed cotton, canvas, jeans or home deco fabrics for the outer fabric
    • Cotton for the lining fabric

    Materials required for the large version:

    • Outer fabric: 100 cm with fabric width of 110 cm
    • Lining fabric: 100cm
    • Reinforcement:
      • Pellon SF101 ~= G700: 1.30 m
      • Pellon 809 ~= H250 (not necessary for cork/artificial leather or waxed cotton): 1.00 m
      • Foam stabilizer ~= Style-vil: 40 cm
    • 2 rectangular 38 mm passants
    • 2 sliding buckles of 38 mm
    • Zipper of (min.) 55 cm for the top
    • Zipper of (min.) 20 cm for inside.
    • Bag strap 25 mm: 1.00 m (for handles)
    • 38mm bag strap: 2.30m (for shoulder straps)
    • Wide bias (15mm or more): 3.20 m

    Optional:

    • 24mm leather strap for handles (instead of fabric)

    This pattern consists of a paper booklet with English instructions. The instructions themselves are richly illustrated with drawings at each step, so don't let that put you off.
    Only the non-rectangular pattern pieces are supplied on paper, the other pattern pieces you draw yourself or cut out directly using the supplied cutting labels!
