Application
With the stretch twin needle you can create professional-looking seams on your T-shirts and other knitwear – even without using a coverlock machine: with your normal household sewing machine you can sew two exactly parallel, elastic seams at the bottom. Use two needle threads on the top seam at the same time.
The medium ball point of the needles ensures that the loops are gently pushed aside without damage. This helps prevent holes. Thanks to the special shaft, the needle is closer to the hook. In combination with the special scarf section, this prevents skipped stitches, even in very stretchy knit fabrics.
The Stretch twin needle is particularly suitable for hemming and topstitching of (very) elastic knitted fabrics, e.g. jersey, velor jersey, knitted cotton, swimwear fabrics.
Before you start sewing
The stretch twin needle can be used on conventional household sewing machines with a zigzag function. Like other household needles, it also inserts into the needle bar: from your perspective, the flat side of the shaft points away from you.
The stitch plate and presser foot must have a recess large enough for the selected needle spacing.
Tip: Turn on twin mode or use a similar button on your sewing machine (if equipped) to limit the stitch width. This prevents the needle from accidentally hitting the stitch plate and breaking it.
Threading the needle
Keep in mind that:
The automatic needle threader does not work with twin needles!
